Pro-European, pro-development? French views on Europe and development

For French people, approval for France’s membership of the European Union is directly correlated to support for development issues.

This is more about a correlation rather than a causal link, since in parallel, those people in France who support European Union membership are also those with higher levels of education, income, urban location and the least likely to support nationalism or parties from the far-right (whose political agendas do not usually favor developing countries or development issues).

From these results, it seems to be that views on global poverty are highly connected to views on national sovereignty - seen either as shut within the French border, or instead as a flexible boundary covering the institutions and borders of Europe, or even the world.
