34% of French people share information on developing countries

    Published on 02/08/2018.

37% of French men and 32% of French women say they have sent or shared information on development or poor countries.

This is particularly prevalent among left-wing sympathizers (45%) and center supporters (40%), but less frequent for right-wing sympathizers (31%).

These figures show that French people are enthusiastic “messengers” on development issues, and that they are receptive to information campaigns. This means that succeeding in raising awareness on development issues does not depend solely on the original channel of transmission (online media, radio, TV, newspapers), but also on facilitating the re-transmission of information by those reading, listening or watching it.

This data comes from our survey conducted by the YouGov Institute and piloted by the research team at University College London and Birmingham University as part of the project Aid Attitudes Tracker which measures the evolution of opinions and behaviors on issues of international solidarity in four countries.
