What is your impression of the French Development Agency (AFD)?
This survey, commissioned by the French Development Agency and conducted by Toluna Harris Interactive. It was conducted online (mainland France) and by telephone (Reunion Island) from April 9 to 22, 2025, among a panel of 10,103 people aged 16 and over, representative of the French mainland population (excluding Corsica) and the 12 metropolitan regions of France (between 458 and 1,797 respondents per region) and 305 people representative of the population of Réunion aged 16 and over.
Quota method and adjustment applied to the following variables:
gender, age, socio-professional categories, regions, and departments of the interviewee.
The margin of error (or confidence interval) used for this study is between 0.4 and 1 percentage point.
The following segmentations allow the survey results to be viewed according to responses to questions testing the values of those interviewed:
- Political orientation: responses to the question “On a scale from left to right, where would you place yourself?”
- “Far left” and “Left”: 18%
- “Center-left,” “Center,” and “Center-right”: 31%
- “Right” and “Far right”: 30%
- Concern about poverty in developing countries: responses to the question “In general, would you say that you feel concerned or unconcerned about the difficulties faced by people living in countries less developed than France?”
- “Very concerned” and “Somewhat concerned”: 65%
- “Somewhat unconcerned” and “Not at all concerned”: 35%
- Support for official development assistance: responses to the question “Some people are in favor of France supporting developing countries, while others are against it. Personally, are you very supportive, somewhat supportive, somewhat opposed, or very opposed?”
- “Very supportive” and “Somewhat supportive”: 66%
- “Somewhat opposed” and “Very opposed”: 34%
