General methodology

This survey was based on a quantitative survey conducted between March 10 and 31, 2025, among a representative sample of the French population comprising 10,002 adults aged 18 and over, and a qualitative survey based on online focus groups conducted from July 16 to 21, 2025, organized among three of the segments identified during the quantitative phase.

Segmentations

The following segmentations allow the survey results to be viewed according to responses to questions testing the values of those surveyed:

• Concern about poverty in developing countries: responses to the question “Which statement best describes your feelings about poverty levels in poor countries?”
  • “Very concerned” or “somewhat concerned” (58%)
  • “No opinion” or “not very concerned” or “not at all concerned” (40%)
• Support for official development assistance: responses to the question “In general, would you say you are in favor of or opposed to France providing aid to poor countries
  • “Very favorable” or “somewhat favorable” or “neutral” (70%)
  • “Somewhat unfavorable” or “very unfavorable” (29%)
• Voting in national elections: responses to the question “In the 2024 French legislative elections, who did you vote for?”

  • Rassemblement National
• Voting intentions: first choice of party in response to the question “If the second round of the legislative elections were held tomorrow, how likely would you be to vote for the following parties? Please rank your three favorite parties in order of preference. Rank up to three parties. ”
  • Far left (La France Insoumise or Parti Communiste Français)
  • Left (Parti Socialiste)
  • Green (Europe Ecologie Les Verts)
  • Presidential majority (Ensemble, MoDem, Union des Démocrates et Indépendants, or Horizons)
  • Right (Les Républicains)
  • Far right (Rassemblement National ou Reconquête)
