    Segmentation according to voting in the legislative elections

    In France, respondents were divided according to how they voted in the first round of the 2024 early legislative elections:

    • La France Insoumise: left-wing – radical left-wing
    • Socialist Party: left-wing
    • Renaissance: center-right
    • The Republicans: right-wing
    • National Rally: far right

    Segmentation according to confidence in the government

    Respondents were divided according to their answer to the question: “How much do you trust or not trust the following people and institutions?: National government”

    France:

    • High trust in the government: 8%
    • Medium trust in the government: 34%
    • Low trust in the government: 53%

    Italy:

    • High trust in government: 12%
    • Medium trust in government: 39%
    • Low trust in government: 45%

    Segmentation according to trust in journalists

    Respondents were divided according to their answers to the question: “How much do you trust or not trust the following people and institutions?: Journalists”

    France:

    • High trust in journalists: 9%
    • Medium trust in journalists: 48%
    • Low trust in journalists: 37%

    Italy:

    • High trust in journalists: 7%
    • Medium trust in journalists: 48%
    • Low trust in journalists: 41%

    Segmentation according to social engagement

    Respondents were categorized according to their answers to the question: “Which, if any, of the following activities have you taken part in during the last year?” Those described as “socially engaged” are those who reported signing a petition, making a donation or volunteering, sharing political content on social media, or participating in a protest.

    France:

    • Socially engaged: 57%
    • Not socially engaged: 43%

    Italy:

    • Socially engaged: 65%
    • Not socially engaged: 35%

    Presentation of results

    The results are presented as a percentage of responses calculated in relation to the representative sample of the adult population in each of the countries surveyed.

    Margin of error

    The margin of error is ± 2% for France (2,053 respondents) and ± 3% for Italy (1,024 respondents).
