I. Privacy Policy
Preamble
This privacy policy applies to the website https://focus2030.org/Expertise-2030 (hereinafter referred to as the “website”), edited by the association Focus 2030. Its purpose is to inform users of the website (hereinafter “Users”) about:
- How their personal data are collected, used, and protected;
- Their rights regarding such data;
- The entity responsible for processing the personal data collected and processed; and
- To whom this data is transmitted.
Article 1: Principles governing the processing of personal data
In accordance with Article 5 of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (the “GDPR”), personal data are:
- Processed lawfully, fairly, and transparently with regard to the data subject;
- Collected for specified, explicit, and legitimate purposes (see Article 2.2) and not further processed in a manner incompatible with those purposes;
- Adequate, relevant, and limited to what is necessary in relation to the purposes for which they are processed;
- Accurate and, where necessary, kept up to date. All reasonable steps are taken to ensure that personal data that are inaccurate are erased or rectified without delay;
- Kept in a form that permits identification of data subjects for no longer than is necessary for the purposes for which the data are processed;
- Processed in a manner that ensures appropriate security of the personal data, including protection against unauthorized or unlawful processing and against accidental loss, destruction, or damage, through appropriate technical and organizational measures.
Article 2: Personal data collected and processed through use of the Site
Article 2.1 : Scope of the data collected
The data that may be collected include in particular:
- First name, last name
- Email address
- Telephone number (where applicable)
- Country of residence
- Photograph
- Professional information (organization, main role, type of organization)
- Profile description (biography between 150 and 500 characters, area of expertise, SDGs of expertise, fields of expertise)
- Areas of expertise
Article 2.2 : Purposes of data processing
The collection and processing of these data serve the following purposes:
- To create a reference directory of international solidarity experts, aimed at strengthening the visibility of and access to expertise for journalists and development actors;
- To facilitate the identification of and contact with qualified speakers related to international solidarity issues and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs);
- To ensure controlled access to experts’ contact details, reserved exclusively for journalists and development professionals duly registered on the platform.
Article 2.3 : Data collection methods
Personal data are collected directly through registration or application forms submitted in order to appear in the directory.
Article 2.4 : Legal basis for processing
Personal data are collected on the basis of the data subject’s consent.
Article 3: Data hosting and security
Article 3.1 : Data hosting
Personal data collected via the “Expertise 2030” platform are hosted in France by:

OVH acts as a technical data processor within the meaning of Article 28 of the GDPR and accesses the data solely for technical purposes and on instructions from Focus 2030. OVH is ISO/IEC 27001 certified, ensuring a high level of security and confidentiality.
The Site is secured by an SSL (Secure Socket Layer) certificate, ensuring encrypted communications between the User and the server and protecting data against unauthorized interception.
No personal data are transferred outside the European Union. Focus 2030 also implements appropriate organizational and technical security measures, including:
- Restricted access to authorized personnel only;
- Logging and traceability of technical access and interventions;
- Regular data backups in secure environments;
- Internal staff awareness-raising on personal data protection.
Regular security updates and scheduled technical maintenance are also carried out to ensure system reliability and data protection.
Article 3.2 : Data retention periods
Personal data are retained only for as long as strictly necessary to fulfill the purposes defined in Article 2.2:
- Data related to an expert profile in the directory: retained for a maximum of five (5) years from the last active interaction (profile update, response to a request, account login, etc.), unless deletion is requested earlier;
- Data collected as part of the newsletter subscription: retained until the user unsubscribes, or, failing that, for a maximum period of two years from the last contact;
- Anonymous technical or statistical data: may be retained indefinitely insofar as they no longer allow identification of Users.
At the end of these periods, data are deleted or securely anonymized, subject to applicable legal retention obligations. Registered users may delete their account and all associated personal data at any time via the dedicated functionality.
Article 3.3 : Deletion of account and personal data
Registered Users may delete their account and all associated personal data at any time, without having to justify their decision.
This can be done independently via a dedicated feature accessible from the User’s personal space on the platform. Once the deletion request has been confirmed, all identifiable data associated with the account will be permanently deleted within a maximum of thirty days, unless its retention is required by law or for the establishment, exercise, or defense of legal claims.

Article 3.4 : Data recipients
Certain personal data of registered experts (professional contact details and profile information) are accessible to authorized users only, namely journalists and development professionals whose accounts have been validated and who have accepted the terms of use.
These data may be consulted exclusively for professional purposes and within the scope of the directory’s objectives.
Apart from this controlled access, Focus 2030 remains the sole recipient of other personal data (administrative and technical information). No data are sold, transferred, or exchanged for commercial or advertising purposes.
Focus 2030 undertakes not to disclose any personal data to unauthorized third parties without the explicit prior consent of the person concerned, except where required by law or court order.
Article 4: Data controller and Data Protection Officer
Article 4.1 : Data controller
Personal data collected via the “Expertise 2030” platform are processed by Focus 2030, a non-profit association governed by the French Law of 1 July 1901, registered under number W751239992, with registered office at 39 rue Beauregard, 75002 Paris.
The data controller is represented by the association’s Director, Mr. Fabrice Ferrier, acting under a mandate from the President, Ms. Fanny Forgeau.
The data controller ensures that all data processing carried out in connection with the operation of the Website complies with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the French Data Protection Act.

Article 4.2 : Data Protection Officer (DPO)
Focus 2030 has appointed a Data Protection Officer (DPO) dedicated to the Expertise 2030 platform, in accordance with Article 37 of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
The DPO ensures compliance with data processing requirements, advises the association on its legal obligations, and acts as the point of contact for any questions relating to data protection.

Article 5: Users’ rights
Any User concerned by the processing of their personal data has the following rights, pursuant to Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR) and the French Data Protection Act (Law No. 78-17 of January 6, 1978, as amended):
- Right of access, rectification, and erasure of data (Articles 15, 16, and 17 of the GDPR): Users may request to know what personal data is held about them, obtain a copy of it, correct any inaccuracies, or request its deletion, within the limits provided for by law.
- Right to data portability (Article 20 of the GDPR): Users may request to receive the personal data they have provided in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format, or to have it transferred to another data controller.
- Right to restriction of processing (Article 18 of the GDPR): Users may request the temporary suspension of the processing of their data in certain cases (e.g., contesting the accuracy of the data, objecting to the processing, etc.).
- Right to object to processing (Article 21 of the GDPR): the User may object at any time to the processing of their data for reasons relating to their particular situation. Processing may then only be continued if it is based on legitimate and compelling grounds or if it is necessary for the exercise or defense of legal rights.
- Right not to be subject to a decision based solely on automated processing, including profiling (Article 22 of the GDPR): the User has the right not to be subject to a decision producing legal effects concerning him or her, based solely on an algorithm, except in the cases provided for by the GDPR.
- Right to define post-mortem guidelines: in accordance with Law No. 2016-1321 of October 7, 2016, Users may define guidelines relating to the storage, erasure, and communication of their personal data after their death.
- Right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (Article 77 of the GDPR): if Users believe that their rights have not been respected, they may lodge a complaint with the French Data Protection Authority (CNIL) via the website https://www.cnil.fr/fr/plaintes.

The request must specify the subject of the request, include proof of identity in case of legitimate doubt about the identity of the applicant, and be made from the email address associated with the account. A response will be provided within a maximum of thirty (30) days, in accordance with current regulations.

Focus 2030 reserves the right to modify it at any time to ensure compliance with current legislation on the protection of personal data.

In the event of a substantial change (e.g., change in the purposes of the processing, new recipients, or transfers outside the EU), Users will be informed by one of the following means:

II. Terms of Use of the “Expertise 2030” Directory
The purpose of the “Expertise 2030” directory is to facilitate connections between media and international development professionals and recognized experts in the fields of international solidarity and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Its use is based on the principles of respect, responsibility, and confidentiality. Anyone using this service agrees to abide by the following rules:
Article 1 : Purpose of use
Data may be used exclusively for professional purposes related to:Personal data accessible via the directory may only be used for explicit professional purposes strictly related to the objectives of the directory, including :
- journalistic information,
- academic research or expertise,
- institutional communication or advocacy,
- networking in the context of projects related to international solidarity or the SDGs.
Any misuse is strictly prohibited.
Article 2: Confidentiality and Non-Disclosure of Information
Users agree to:
- not disclose contact details or personal information from the directory to unauthorized third parties;
- not use this data for commercial, advertising, political, or promotional purposes, unless expressly agreed to in advance by the person concerned;
- not store nor export the data in files that are unsecured or accessible to third parties.
Article 3: Respect and contact rules
Users must respect the privacy of experts and behave professionally:
- Only contact experts at reasonable hours;
- Use email for initial contact;
- Do not send mass messages or repeatedly contact someone who has not responded to an initial contact;
- Do not pressure or harass anyone in any way.
Any intrusive, disrespectful, or abusive behavior may result in suspension or removal from the directory.
Article 4: Accuracy of information
Persons listed in the directory undertake to:
- provide accurate, truthful, and verifiable information when submitting their profile;
- keep their profile up to date and inform Focus 2030 of any significant changes (position, organization, area of expertise, etc.).
Focus 2030 reserves the right to temporarily or permanently suspend a profile in the event of clearly erroneous or misleading information.
Article 5: Security and responsibility
Each user is responsible for the security of their account and the access associated with it. It is their responsibility to:
- keep their login details confidential;
- not allow unauthorized third parties to use their personal access to the directory.
In the event of suspected fraudulent use or unauthorized access, the User must inform Focus 2030 immediately.
Article 6: Control and moderation
Focus 2030 reserves the right to:
- verify the identity and professional status of users requesting access;
- refuse access or remove an account in the event of non-compliance with this charter or behavior incompatible with the objectives of the directory.
Article 7: Acceptance of the terms
Access to the directory implies full and complete acceptance of this user agreement. Anyone who violates these rules may have their account suspended or deleted without notice.
