69% of French people think the G7 should take action on women’s empowerment

    Published on 11/02/2019.

69% of French people agree that France should ensure the G7 takes action on women’s empowerment in 2019.

The gender of respondents does appear to influence answers, given that 19% of women (compared to 16% of men) do not have an opinion on the question. However those over 50 seem more supportive of women’s empowerment in the G7 than those in younger age groupings (between 25 and 29).

Similarly, left-wing voters are more in favor of the idea. Center-voters align with both mainstream left and right on this issue. Those people who say they are neither left or right voters appear generally less motivated to have a clear view: 25% of them say they have no opinion on whether France should ensure the G7 takes action on women’s empowerment.

This data comes from our survey conducted by the YouGov Institute and piloted by the research team at University College London and the University of Birmingham as part of the project Aid Attitudes Tracker which measures the evolution of opinions and behaviors on issues of international solidarity in four countries.
