43% of French people say it is up to political leaders to explain why it is beneficial for France to maintain international aid.
By extension, we can suppose that political representatives are considered responsible for the public debate on development issues.
Only 19% of French people do not expect their politicians to explain France’s interest in supporting the poorest countries.
This data comes from our survey conducted by the YouGov Institute and piloted by the research team at University College London and Birmingham University as part of the project Aid Attitudes Tracker which measures the evolution of opinions and behaviors on issues of international solidarity in four countries.
