The French do not know much about international solidarity. The uncertainty of the word "development" does not help them to immediately visualise the development challenges of the poorest countries. However, once French people are given the specific context of the question, they do in fact have precise views regarding what must be "developed" as a priority. According to French opinion, it is the main themes (health, education, economy/autonomy, nutrition) which are the most important, far before the detailed proposals of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. Nevertheless, French development priorities are not always the same and vary according to political opinion, age, gender, and social-economic status.
